The new Paradox Deluxe model from UK based Lucem Guitars blends distinct retro styling and a classic, off-set body design. Originally offered as a limited-run ‘Old Nick’ signature model for revered ex-Verve guitarist Nick McCabe, this new ‘Deluxe’ offering is aimed towards the boutique market and features highly figured tonewoods and an innovative 5 pot controls scheme.

21 different tone settings are easily accessible including various combinations of coil splits, series/parallel, out of phase, and a master volume control pot. This master volume control gives the player opportunity to create swells without effecting the balance set at the neck/bridge volume and tone controls – a feature introduced by McCabe for his trademark “pinkie rolls”.

The ‘Black Flame’ finish is hand stained and available in high-gloss nitrocellulose lacquer, or alternatively a more natural/rustic, satin oil and wax finish. At the time I am writing this we are fortunate enough to have one of each in stock.

Construction is based around a quartersawn Maple through-neck format which aids in transferring vibration and resonance while increasing sustain is increased and eliminating dead spots. It also facilitates a virtually heel-less neck joint for unparalleled access to the upper registers.
