The Rice Osprey model guitars are built around the idea that the ultimate electric guitar should respond in a similar fashion to a great acoustic instrument. All switched sounds should be an extension of the instrument’s primary voice and the most subtle intentions of the player should translate to differing tones. The voice is shaped through wood selection and heard through the pickups.

This Osprey T is a fantastic choice to cover any gig. Its body is built from a combination of reclaimed Redwood and reclaimed Pine for exceptional resonance, light weight and balance. Crisp, clear and bell-like tone is punchy yet sweet with a nice twang but not too much spank. The Osprey T also features Gotoh hardware, one RCG Slug ‘Bucker neck pickup and a hand-wound RCG “Mr. T” flatpole in the bridge position. Combined with a 5-way switch for a mix of HB and single coil tones this thing really sings!

RCG Hand Wound Pickups for great tone!

RCG pickups are hand wound by the folks at Rice Guitars and sound fantastic! Slug ‘Bucker pickups bridge the gap between PAF style humbuckers and traditional Fender-style single coil pickups, and unlike a traditional humbucker that uses non-magnetized screw and/or slug pole pieces with a magnet underneath coils, the Slug ‘Bucker is essentially two single coil bobbins side by side with AlNiCo III magnetic “slug” pole pieces. This provides classic humbucker tones with more clarity and sparkle coupled with a truly authentic single coil tone when split. Perfect for the best of both worlds. This particular Osprey T also has a hand-wound “Mr. T” flatpole tele-style pickup in the bridge position.
