This Limited Edition ’68 Strat Relic is dripping with tone – and it has the look and feel to back that up. Just an outstanding guitar! It exudes that Hendrix/Woodstock/Maple Cap Stratocaster vibe. Sweet, succulent and expressive courtesy of the Hand-Wound Bone Tone pickup set, which also happens to be wired up with the “Fat 50s Hookup with half blender” wiring scheme that provides for that “Je ne sais quoi”. Yes, you can get the sparkle and quack, but it is rich, multi-dimensional and just all around killer. Very “alive” and inspiring is what I am trying to say here. The guitar plays and feels amazing too – the perfect weight @ 7.4lbs. The neck feel vintage but better. It has a compound 7.25” – 9.5” radius – so you get that comfy, rounded vintage feel for chording and playing down in the first position or so, but as you transition up towards the body it flattens out just enough to allow for the lowest possible action without fretting out when going for those bigger bends. Not so flat it feels weird or modern. Just right I would say. Also, being a Journeyman Relic, the level of distress is very authentic and correct looking. No overblow, dragged behind a truck style relic wear here. It feels just like it was lovingly cared for over the last 45-50 years.
