Eastwood Guitars Airline ’59 Town and Country DLX – LEFTY
Left Handed Electric Guitar!
Used by artists like Dan Auerbach and Jack White
Inspired by vintage Valco / Supro / National Res-O-Glas electric guitars
The Airline ’59 Town & Country Deluxe is a tribute to the vintage Valco and Supro electric guitars sold by Montgomery Ward during the mid-1950’s and 60’s. Those original vintage guitars were made of Res-O-Glas – a term coined by Valco to make Fiberglass “sound special”, but the current Airline design has been upgraded with a tone-chambered Mahogany body for a for a more resonant and organic tone. This Town and Country model with a Vintage Cream finish also includes Deluxe features such as Bigsby vibrato, Tone Pros bridge and rubber body binding.
Airline’s new ’59 Town & Country DLX retains the deco swagger of the original Valco / Supro / National guitars while delivering the reliability of an axe fresh off the showroom floor. With interest in vintage Supro Guitars shooting through the roof (thanks in no small part to artists like The Black Keys and Jack White), this Deluxe ’59 Town and Country from Airline Guitars may be the closest thing you’ll find to a playable vintage piece—especially if you’re on a workingman’s budget.
Eastwood retained the sharp lines of the original vintage Valco’s and Supro’s on this Airline Reissue. The tone chambered Mahogany is warmer and resonates more like a semi hollow body guitar should. Unlike the clunky and unreliable hardware used on the vintage Supros, this Airline ’59 Town and Country Deluxe uses smooth and stable Wilkinson tuning pegs, and a TonePro’s roller bridge that works great in tandem with the Bigsby tremolo. The Alnico Hot-10 and Vintage Voiced single-coil pickups sound great too.
Overall, the Airline Guitars ’59 Town & Country DLX from Eastwood is a fantastic guitar with a voice all its own and a sweet-looking body that’s highly reminiscent of the vintage Valco / Supro guitars of yesteryear. This is one of those guitars that makes the union of vintage and modern seem like a very, very appealing mix.
