Airline Guitars Mandola – LEFTY
Iconic vintage “MAP” styling
Where else are you going to find a left handed electric Mandola? Nowhere. Do you even need to keep reading? Ok – In case you do, here is the rest of the description ;-)~
Following on the success of Eastwood’s top selling electric mandolin – the Mandocaster – here comes the Airline Mandola. This solidbody electric Mandola is to the Mandolin what the Viola is to the Violin. With a fingerboard about 2 inches longer than a Mandolin, its four double courses of strings are tuned in unison fifths (C-G-D-A low-to-high), a fifth lower than a typical Mandolin. The Mandola is actually an ancestor of the Mandolin, which means “little Mandola”.
While Mandola is commonly considered to be a traditional folk instrument – particularly popular for Italian and Irish music – It is becoming an increasingly popular tool in Americana, Alternative, Country and even Rock music. Its tone is richer and sweeter than the Mandolin and great for creating unique parts in original songs. Like guitar, the Mandola can be acoustic or electric. Attila the Stockbroker, punk poet and frontman of Barnstormer, uses an electric Mandola as his main instrument. Alex Lifeson, guitarist for the band Rush, has also featured the Mandola in his work.
