Diego Vila is an Argentinian-born luthier now working from Madrid, Spain. His passion, enthusiasm and sense of rigor are evident in the one of a kind, hand-made guitars he builds. This particular model is the “Telmo” (named for the Saint Elmo Quarter in Buenos Aires) and while the classic inspiration is evident, his unique style and flair is clearly evident.
On the Telmo, simplicity and sophistication come together. The attention to every detail – like the bound ebony pickguard which is recessed into the top, and the “card suit” inlays, which are hand made from cellulose acetate – are painstakingly hand done, which allow this Telecaster inspired model to deliver all its nuances with exceptional strength and definition.
This custom, boutique, electric guitar is unique, carefully hand-painted by Fernando Oddone. Part of a special “fileteado porteño” series. Fileteado porteño is a type of artistic drawing, with stylized lines and flowers, climbing plants and ribbons and vibrant colors, typically used in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It started at the end of the 19th century as a form of embellishment and differentiation.
The playability on this Telino is top notch with a slim fast feel (and normally I prefer more of a fat/vintage style neck). It’s very fun to play and the tone is excellent as well. Frets are not to small and not to big, and nicely crowned. The nut is nicely sculpted too, and the pickups seem to match nicely with a meaty P-90 neck tone and a twangier, spanky bridge tone. I get the feeling that the Schroeder bridge adds a solid, fatness to the tone as well. I honestly did not gravitate to this guitar when I first saw it, but since playing it I have become more and more enamored. Not only is it beautiful to look at but a blast to play.

Due to multiple parties, including the factory and the warehouse, we're unable to effectively manage inventory. The actual stock can be changed at any time. Be aware that your order may be out of stock when your order has been made.
Our policy lasts for 30 days. We cannot exchange or refund your order after 30 days since you purchased it.
Your item must be in its original packaging and not be used. It must also be returned in the original packaging.
