The Dirty Shirley is an incredible all Tube Amp Head from Dave Friedman. Designed specifically for fat sounding, classic rock the 40 watt Dirty Shirley head puts vintage crunch similar to Led Zeppelin, ZZ top and Van Halen to a beautiful shimmering clean right at your fingertips. It comes standard with a series FX loop.

The Dirty Shirley 40 watt Tube Guitar Amplifier head is based on a modified JTM 45 platform but features all that incredible, high gain tone Friedman amplifiers are known for. When fully cranked there is about as much on take as you get from the Brown Eye – another great Friedman amp. Although the Dirty Shirley head is a single channel amplifier, it is a versatile and dynamic amp and will clean up nicely if you back off your guitar’s volume control. The Dirty Shirley features 40 wattts of power from a pair of 5881 / 6L6 power tubes and it uses a GZ34 / 5AR4 rectifier.

To dial in great tone it’s recommended to start with the following settings: Use low input with the Bass maxed, Treble & Presence at Noon, Mid at about 2:00, Master at 10:00 and Gain at 2:00. This will give you that Big- fat Zep tone. From there just crank the gain to see what’s available. Then switch to high-gain input and tweak to taste. For a big, open Crunch Tone or a nice Clean, just lower your guitar volume. The Dirty Shirley is so dynamic there is no need for a second channel. Sounds great with any speaker combo- but killer with Greenbacks
