Tone King Amps Sky King 1×12 combo
Hand-Wired, All Tube Guitar Amplifier w/built-in Ironman Attenuator
Blackface Fender clean to pushed Tweed and Marshall-style overdrive!
The layout of the new Sky King from Tone King Amps is similar to the Tone King Imperial with tonal palette that combines some of the of the best aspects of both the Imperial and the Tone King Falcon, along with a built-in Iron Man Attenuator. From deep, old school, “Tweed meets Supro crunch” to “Blackface-era Fender cleans” and even a punchy, British flavored Marshall-style overdrive- It’s all here in the new hand-wired Sky King 1×12 combo from Tone King Amplifiers! The Sky King has a “mojo and texture” that just makes it so much fun to play!
This hand-wired, 35 watt, all-tube guitar amplifier certainly covers a lot of ground! It’s lush and dimensional- from breathy, ringing clean tones to lively, kick you in the chest overdrive. A unique “Ultralinear / Pentode” switch controls the output mode of the Sky King’s 6L6GC power tubes and essentially doubles the tonal range. This gives you a choice between the Crisp, Present, and Dynamic sound of Pentode mode, or the Thick, Chunky Mids, Sweetly Burnished Top End, and nice, Natural Compression of Ultralinear mode
On the Clean Channel; in Pentode Mode the Sky King will have the sharper dynamic attack of the Imperial. In Ultra-linear Mode the Sky King will have more of that rounded, syrupy like feel you might find on the Falcon. The Sky King’s Lead Channel has a similar character to that of the Imperial; Back off the Mid-Bite and it’s a little more Tweed sounding (although the 6L6 power tubes add a little more Beef). Crank up the Mid-Bite and it brings a peak to the upper midrange and tightens up the bass. You can really hear the compression in the Sky King too!
A built-in Ironman attenuator includes separate attenuation controls for the rhythm and lead channels, each with 6 levels of attenuation. The Ironman preserves the natural tone and feel of the amp all the way down to true bedroom volume (-36db).
Overall, the novel hand-wiring approach and finely tuned 1×12 combo cabinet, developed by designer Mark Bartel, adds a whole new level of depth and dimension to Tone King’s authentic vintage tone recipe. Woody Resonance, Organic Tone and an incredibly Responsive Feel make the Sky King an amp that really wants to be played.
