USED! Sold by us originally and now back on consignment. Just in from one of our regular clients. This baby is in immaculate original factory condition (although Heavy Relic is the finish package). Like all our used gear this has been tested for functionality and priced to move. It’s a particulary fine sounding and playing example of one of these ’54 Strat Heavy Relic guitars and part of the highly collectable 60th Anniversary Limited Edition. Lightweight too – Only 6.6 lbs! Sold as is. What you see is what you get. Included but not pictured – The original Limited Edition center pocket Tweed Hardshell case and all case candy, certificates, book, etc… etc… (don’t worry – it’s all there) One more thing before we get to the detailed description – While almost all of these were originally issued in standard 2 color sunburst, this is a rare 1-off ordered stock with a White Blonde finish.

60 years ago it was 1954 and Leo Fender introduced the Stratocaster solidbody electric guitar. That pretty much changed to world of rock and roll – heck- MUSIC in general – as we know it. To celebrate the this momentous event, the Fender Custom Shop is releasing the 60th Anniversary 1954 Heavy Relic Stratocaster. This exquisite Time Machine Series guitar sports classic ’54 appointments such as a 1-piece ash body, 1-piece maple neck with a U-shaped profile, and vintage-style hardware along with period correct style plastic pickup covers and knobs. The Nitrocellulose Lacquer finish also sports a hand-distressed, Heavy Relic finish package to replicate the feel and look of 60 years of genuine road worn wear and tear. A set of Fender’s new 1954 Single-Coil Strat pickups give this limited-edition electric guitar the tone necessary to match its good looks while the 9.5” fingerboard radius and 6105 fret wire mean this valuable instrument isn’t just a collector’s piece to hang on the wall- You can actually go out and play it with comfort and ease. Any why wouldn’t you? It’s not like you have to worry about dinging it up.

This special guitar honors the Stratocaster’s very first model year and is finely crafted with a rich selection of features and appointments, in addition to a heavy relic treatment that evokes decades of use, abuse and hard-fought wear and tear.

The Fender Custom Shop 60th Anniversary 1954 Heavy Relic Stratocaster Solidbody Electric Guitar boasts a tinted, one-piece maple neck – quartersawn for tone and stability. Quartersawn wood is a stronger cut than flatsawn wood. It also transfer the string vibration more directly towards the body, which means more tone and resonance for you! And the lacquer finish, which is thinner than modern polyurethane finishes, will allow the one-piece Ash body on this ’54 Strat to breathe, age properly in time, and sing with a clear, loud voice.

The Heavy Relic Finish package for a Vintage Vibe, Look and Feel

As one of Fender’s top tier Showcase Dealers, we were able to special order this Limited Edition Stratocaster in a Custom Color White Blonde finish. The stunning Heavy Relic treatment starts with a period-correct nitrocellulose lacquer. Nitrocellulose Lacquer finishes are significantly thinner than today’s polyurethane finishes. Aside from an authentic vintage look, they also allow the wood to breathe and age naturally over time, which enhances the instrument’s tonal qualities. They also look and feel great – less paint equals more tone! And the feel of a worn-in vintage instrument is hard to beat. Without sneaking a look at the neck heel stamps, you’d be hard-pressed to distinguish the Fender Custom Shop 60th Anniversary 1954 Heavy Relic Stratocaster Solidbody Electric Guitar from the real deal.
