Original Vintage 1970 Marshall Major 200 watt head
200 watt all tube amplifier head from Marshall Amps
This amp is LOUD! Designed for Massive, Rich, Blooming Tube tone
Ultimate sonic platform for boutique guitar effects pedals
What you are looking at here is a vintage Marshall Major from 1970. It is covered in original, custom color white tolex. This amp is Loud! 200 watts of pure tube amplifier tone is what you get here. This amp is designed for massive, rich, blooming, power and headroom. It is NOT designed to be pushed to its limits like a 50 watt Plexi or even a 100 watt Marshall Superlead. This thing is 200 watts. There are 700 volts going to the screen grids and plates. It’s designed for normal use, not to be dimed or maxed out. If you push it then be prepared to hit up the ATM for tube money and your amp tech for new fuses.
When used appropriately this vintage Marshall Major Head sounds ungodly huge. Since I obtained this amp I have kept it mainly as a show piece. Only used occasionally as a platform for pedals in a studio / showroom situation. Not gigged or abused. Just lovingly cared for and maintained. It is a workhorse though and will easily provide another 4+ decades of use for a new owner as long as it is properly maintained and used appropriately.
All new caps and electrolytics, fresh set of matched KT120 power tubes, some upgraded wires, ohm selector disconnected and upgraded spec to hard-wired, individual ohm specific speaker outputs (4, 16, & 2x 8). Original transformers and parts. The only work done to this amp other than what I just listed would be regular maintenance and upgrading of any components that needed service. The circuit should be stock.
Like all our used gear this amp has been tested for functionality and priced to move. Sold As-Is. What you see is what you get.
