The Lonestar is great for anything from Texas Blues to Hard Rock to Jazz. And thanks to is selectable wattage feature it’s the perfect choice for any situation – From stage to studio to bedroom. Two highly tweakable channels, selectable Class A/B or Class A operation, switchable (tube or solid-state) rectifier, great-sounding long-spring reverb, and a host of other useful features. The Lone Star head from Mesa Boogie packs a lot of amp for the buck. Like all our used / vintage gear this has been tested for functionality and priced to move. Sold as-is. What you see is what you get.
The Lone Star’s Multi-Watt power amp featuring Duo-Class allows for three selectable power options that are channel assignable via the two 10/50/100 watt power switches. Choose two power tubes operating in pure Class A (single-ended) and producing 10 watts, or two or four power tubes running in Class A/B for 50 or 100 watts, respectively. That means you can have 100 watts of clean headroom and 50 or even 10 watts of cranked overdrive goodness.
The Vintage Fender Blackface series of amplifier are some of the most iconic and popular guitar tones of all time. Lone Star easily provides this classic sound with a punchy, shimmering twang that gives way to a hairy crunch. It’s based on a traditional vintage/boutique gain structure to produce warm clean sounds in its low to medium gain ranges. Like most great tube amps, this channel can be driven to clip and produces incredible solo possibilities for blues or jazz chording styles.
The second channel of the Mesa Lonestar has a split personality for even more tonal versatility. At the flick of a switch, it can clone the clean magic of channel one (with an added touch of crunchy gain if necessary) or kick in an additional gain stage with a dedicated gain control for high gain operation. The interaction of three cascading gain controls provides a variety of breathtaking lead sounds.
The Diode/Tube Rectifier Tracking Switch takes Mesa’s patented Dual Rectifier concept to a new level. When Tube Rectifier Tracking is selected, the Lone Star will auto-assign the rectifier circuit to track the assignable 10/50/100-watt power settings of both preamp channels. In this mode, the 5U4GB rectifier tube is automatically selected for either channel in 10 or 50 watt settings, which produces an authentic vintage feel that is silky smooth and inspiring to play. In 100 watt modes, the Silicon Diode Rectifier is automatically selected for more punch, a tighter attack, and substantially more headroom.
