Veillette Guitars Acoustic Gryphon High-Tuned 12-string
Replicate the sound of a Mandolin with this unique, high-tuned acoustic!
Plays like a standard guitar! Unique and inspirational tone!
Though it may look cute, the Acoustic-Electric Gryphon High-Tuned 12-string from Joe Veillette is not a toy. It’s tuned to high D (just 1 step shy of a full octave up) and strung with mandolin-style unison courses. It plays like a guitar but sounds like a mandolin! Celestial, sparkling highs and a punchy mid-register give the Acoustic Gryphon a unique cut and punch and an unusually wide range of applications. This is a truly inspiring song-writing companion. Guitarists will love being able to play mandolin-style parts in a new high register, and even guitar-mandolin doublers will find new horizons, like the ability to play guitar-like or fingerstyle patterns in a mandolin tonality. The acoustic Gryphon’s unique tonal range comes from its 18.5″ scale length and custom Gr-12 strings (gauges .008″ to .042″). The Honduran mahogany back, sides, and neck, Sitka spruce top, and Pau Ferro bridge and fingerboard result in a tonally balanced, responsive, and beautiful instrument.
